Hi. My name is Matthew Coates. I live in Thorney, I am married with 4 children and I have a passion for music. I’ve been playing music for over 30 years and have spent much of that time passing on my knowledge to others through teaching and playing.
I have long believed that music should be accessible to anybody, irrespective of their background and current situation.
My company, Coates Notes Music Services Ltd, is dedicated to providing music education in primary schools and my wife and I have setup music sessions for post-natal children to school age which are accessible to the public.
I teach piano and guitar as well as vocals both in school and in private lessons and I have been running the Thorney Childrens Choir since it’s inception in 2012.
I am also lead singer, pianist and guitarist in Ad Lib Band and have been playing with the band since 2001. In 2008 I recorded a solo album of folk music which was made digital on Spotify in late 2017 ready to celebrate its 10 year anniversary.
Whilst I’m passionate about music, I do also have a day job – my wife and I run our own accountancy practice Coates Business Services Ltd which also keeps us very busy.
